Art Forms: Storytelling

About Me

A gifted actor, storyteller, playwright, and producer, Valerie Davis uses her talents to promote awareness of lesser-known historical events and people. With an extensive background in independent films and stage productions, Valerie is known for her historical interpretations of women of courage, channeling her theater background to create powerful portrayals of characters such as Coretta Scott King, Harriet Tubman, and Martha Ann Fields.

Valerie has also been trained through the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning. Wolf Trap teaching artists partner with teachers and caregivers of children ages four to six-years-old to improve learning through the performing arts: using music, dance, drama, and puppetry to bring literacy and math concepts to life!

Check out this video of how Valerie engages with children in Anansi & Me, courtesy of Portsmouth Public Library.

My Testimonials
