Program Description
Strings Impact is one of Arts for Learning’s longest running out-of-school-time (OST) programs. This music-based OST residency utilizes combined curriculum of Suzuki Instruction, Essential Elements: Book One and an advanced curriculum developed by Arts for Learning’s education and program team. The curriculum is designed to enhance students’ ability to learn the basics of how to play the violin quickly and is tied to various Virginia Standards of Learning for Fine Arts (Music), English, and Social-Emotional Learning.
Students in each residency experience intensive, sequential lessons in music, led by one of Arts for Learning’s professional teaching artists. Each 90-minute session is held twice weekly for a set number of weeks. The program highlight at the end of each residency is a special performance for family and friends.
