Program Description
Students will work with teaching artists to discover the use of spoken word and storytelling to express feelings and hopes, to encourage self-worth, and to boost confidence. Students also learn presentation skills that enhance literacy knowledge and appreciation for the creation of both written and performed language. By teaching the poetry slam format, students can perform using their voices and bodies as a form of self-expression.

Technical Requirements
Students should have samples of previous writings such as a journal as well as pencil and paper. Artist requests access to blackboard or dry erase board.
