James Travis Lamont Cooper was born in Bethesda, Maryland and raised in Norfolk and Washington, D.C. Early on, James found an interest in studying robotic design. He knew he had a creative mind and focused on making something out of nothing. He fell head over heels in love with entertainment and this became his true passion. James returned to his studies with robotics and entered NASA’s NORSTAR program, where he was asked to audition for the Norfolk Public School Performing Arts Repertory. At the end of his final year at Lake Taylor High School – James stepped into professional theaters. Today, as an accomplished puppeteer, James can be found with his company “TLC Puppet Workshops” in Norfolk or teaching and performing with “Rainbow Puppet Productions” in Hampton. In addition, he teaches the Afro-Brazilian martial art of Capoeira and Theater. James maintains his partnership with several theaters and touring projects as his creativity continues to expand across the country.
