Curtis Blues

Art Forms: Music, Theatre

Through my association with Young Audiences and the Teaching Artist Institute I have broadened my perspective on how teaching the history of acoustic roots music can make the curriculum’s history, music, and language arts details come alive. With arts-integrated teaching, students experience that learning can be engaging and fun.

About Me

Curtis Blues is an educator and talented musician who plays multiple instruments. With his performances helping keep the tradition of acoustic American roots music alive, Curtis demonstrates for students the origins of modern rock and hip-hop music. He has recorded three critically acclaimed CDs and performs at Blues festivals and schools in an effort to pass this music down to the next generation.

Curtis Blues is a touring artist from Arlington, Virginia. Please contact Aisha Noel, School and Community Relationships Coordinator, at 757-961-3737 to discuss tour availability!

What is a tour? A tour is a set number of programs (3-10) scheduled within a specific time span (2-5 days) and within a specific region. Tours are subject to change or cancellation if the minimum number of programs and/or dates are not met.

All tour pricing is subject to change based on number of programs, travel distance, hotel stays, and meals. Please contact us if you have any questions.

My Testimonials

Curtis had great rapport, energy, enthusiasm, and a love for his subject. He connected with both students and teachers. He exhibited great knowledge of his subject and made connections with contemporary genres. He had good audience control.

~ Jane, Teacher, Gilman School Lower

An Artistic Tribute to Marty Einhorn

A very special—and poignant—Arts for Learning performance this month honored the life and legacy of former board president Marty Einhorn. A4L’s Rita Cohen performed A World of Song and Dance as a free performance in memory of Marty, who died in 2021 at the age of 63. After Marty’s death, Arts for Learning […]
