About Me
Ashlee Rey is an actor who got her start as Raynell in August Wilson’s Fences at the St. Louis Black Repertory Company. Since moving to Virginia, she has performed in numerous productions in Hampton Roads. Ashlee has a STEM background, with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Hampton University and a Master’s in Engineering Management. She worked as a supervisory nuclear engineer at Norfolk Naval Shipyard before deciding her “heart is with the arts” and focusing on theater, including working to expand theater options in Portsmouth.
Ashlee has also been trained through the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning. Wolf Trap teaching artists partner with teachers and caregivers of children ages four to six-years-old to improve learning through the performing arts: using music, dance, drama, and puppetry to bring literacy and math concepts to life!
