Program Description
How can a song help you teach? Sing a song of SOLs, a pocket full of rhyme, four and thirty questions, sung one at a time. Learn the craft of songwriting from lyric writing to music writing. By working in teams to uncover what makes a song important and lasting, participants unlock ideas for inspiring student research into SOL subjects, current events, even school culture. Learn how song inspires active listening and help your students digest subject matter by analyzing relevant songs and building their own. Build an understanding of the components of a song and their function and how to use them to support learning in other academic areas.
