Young Audiences Arts for Learning Virginia Becomes a United Way of South Hampton Roads Certified Agency
Norfolk, VA –Young Audiences Arts for Learning Virginia (YAV) is thrilled to announce that it has received approval as a first-time Certified Agency from the United Way of South Hampton Roads. Our achievement as a first-time Certified Agency with United Way of South Hampton Roads demonstrates YAV’s ability to operate with the highest standards of quality across the domains of financial health, governance and performance accountability. This means that we deliver effective and efficient programming that produces measurable results.
This affiliation also drives collaboration between United Way and its network of partners. YAV looks forward to this partnership creating opportunities to make an even greater impact through collective action towards shared goals. Partnerships between the United Way and its Certified Agencies will raise the visibility of YAV in the community, allowing the organization to expand its arts in education programs targeted at underserved populations, including low-income, special needs, and military-connected students.

Young Audiences Arts for Learning Virginia Welcomes New Board Members
Norfolk, VA –Young Audiences Arts for Learning Virginia (YAV) welcomed three new members to the Board of Directors for the 2018-2019 fiscal year: Mary Grace Davis, Carlton Hardy, and Karina Phillips. The addition of these new members brings the Board to twenty-five individuals who have a vital interest in promoting arts-in-education in Virginia.
Ms. Davis, a Virginia Beach native and current resident, is a Customer Success Manager at Blackbaud, Inc., the world’s largest cloud software company powering social good.
Mr. Hardy, who previously served on the YAV Board of Directors from 2013-2015, is a retired training specialist. He has devoted his encore career to “the intersection of social impact and personal meaning,” volunteering for at least 18 nonprofit organizations or community events primarily dedicated to the arts. Mr. Hardy lives in Newport News.
Ms. Phillips is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and currently serves as the Deputy Director and Exceptional Family Member Program Manager for MCCS Camp Allen in Norfolk. She resides in Virginia Beach.
For 64 years the Board of Directors has provided subject-matter expertise and community connections to YAV so that the organization is able to bring arts in education programming to the students, families, and educators of Virginia.

Young Audiences Arts for Learning Virginia Announces Three New Board Members
Norfolk, VA – Young Audiences Arts for Learning Virginia announces the appointment of three new board members, as well as the full slate of officers and board members for 2017. Joining the Board are the following Hampton Roads community leaders (photographed below, from left to right):

The new Board Members are now appointed to serve a three-year term, from 2017-2020. “We are so excited about the energy, expertise, and passion that our new Board Members will add to our already accomplished Board. It is fortunate that our organization continues to attract this caliber of talent committed to empowering youth through the education integration of core curriculum and the arts,” said Christine M. Everly, Chief Executive Officer.
