CHEERS TO 70

Arts for Learning Virginia celebrates 70 years of engaging students in and through the arts!

If you would like to support us in our 70th year, you may make an online donation here.

On September 26, 2024, our community gathered at the Westin Hotel in Virginia Beach to celebrate Arts for Learning Virginia’s 70th anniversary, honoring its commitment to engaging students across Virginia with creative and accessible arts-integrated programs.

We also recognized the Hampton Roads Community Foundation (HRCF) for its enduring support. Founded in 1950, HRCF has strengthened our organization through numerous grants, learning opportunities, and connections, including our partnership with FACT (Families of Autism Coming Together). HRCF’s largest grant to us, funding the IDEAL after-school residency, has fostered a multi-year collaboration among three Hampton Roads school divisions.

The evening featured a proclamation from Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer, presented by Council member Dr. Amelia Ross-Hammond, along with a mixed-media collage led by teaching artist Asiko-oluwa Aderin. Guests enjoyed original poetry from A4L poet Stephanie Lask, music by the Norfolk Public Schools’ Strolling Silver Strings, and a vibrant performance by A4L singer/songwriter Roberta Lea. It was truly an unforgettable celebration of Arts for Learning Virginia’s legacy and mission.

Thanks to JB Digital Photography, we have many wonderful photos shared from the night, and you may view them below.

Cheers to 70 Years!

As we commemorate 70 years of service, we extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors for their invaluable support. Their generosity has played a crucial role in making our anniversary celebration a reality, allowing us to mark this milestone with our community. Thank you for helping make this event memorable!
