Program Description
In a land where people hear “girls” or “women” can’t do this or that, the women in history have proved otherwise. It was this mindset that helped female spies move around freely in many wars. Join Victoria Phelps in a program looks at some of the female spies in the Civil War, where there were many female spies that fought for what they believed. Meet three of these women and the women that helped them. Listen and learn about Elizabeth Van Lew for the North with a helper Mary Bowser and for the South: Rose Greenhow and a teenager named Bell Boyd. These women were clever, brave, and determined to fight for what they believed. These are Their stories. So, beware, you never know when Spies are among us.
