Program Description
Storytelling is a centuries-old skill which wielded such power for community impact that only revered members of a society were granted the privilege of telling stories and cataloging a culture’s history. Stories connect us and help us to understand one another, or stories can divide us and make us believe false information to be true. Ms. Valerie Davis will touch on her workshop “The Art of Storytelling” followed by engaging story-making and story-telling activities in small groups to help educators find comfort and confidence in teaching attendees to explore their own cultural roots, find ways to empathize with and find connection points to experiencing other cultures, traditions, and values. Storytelling can be a particularly effective means of encouraging attendees to help, consider, and appreciate others with differing viewpoints, ideas and backgrounds. Build stories with Miss Valerie to build bridges of understanding in your diverse classroom.
